Booking terms
The details, written down.
These apply to every evening we run. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you book rather than after.
Our terms and conditions cover the wider agreement between us. This page covers deposits, cancellations and what happens on the night.
Last updated August 2026
01
Deposit and payment.
Fifty per cent at booking. That is what holds the date, and it becomes non-refundable seven days later.
The balance is due seven days before your evening and is charged automatically to the card on file, along with any add-ons you ordered on the intake form.
Card through the booking system. Corporate bookings can pay by invoice on fifteen day terms.
02
Guest numbers.
Six guests minimum, twenty maximum. Above twelve a second host joins, at $400, added to your balance once numbers are confirmed.
Final numbers are confirmed seven days before the evening, at the same time as your balance.
We can usually add guests after that at the per-head rate if your table has room. Ask and we will tell you honestly. We cannot remove them, because by that point the shopping is done and the evening is priced on the booking rather than on who turns up.
03
If you cancel.
Measured from the date of your evening.
-
More than 30 days: full refund, including the deposit
-
14 to 30 days: deposit retained, balance refunded in full
-
7 to 14 days: fifty per cent of the total retained. The shopping is underway and your host is booked
-
Under 7 days: no refund. Ingredients are bought, staff are committed and the date cannot be resold
You get one free reschedule if you are more than fourteen days out and we can fill your original date. After that it is treated as a cancellation.
04
If we cancel.
Full refund, always, plus a twenty per cent credit against a future booking.
This should almost never happen. The realistic causes are a host falling ill with no cover, or weather that makes travel genuinely unsafe. Either way it is our failure to absorb, not yours.
05
On the night.
We arrive an hour before your guests to set the table and lay everything out.
If fewer guests turn up than were paid for there is no refund, because the evening is priced on the booking rather than the attendance.
We hold the full runtime where we can. If the group starts more than thirty minutes late we may shorten the evening rather than run past the agreed finish.
You provide a table and chairs for the full group, outlets near the table, and a sink. Nothing else. If the table or the power turn out to be materially different from what you told us on the intake form, we will do our best, but some things cannot be worked around on the night.
Refusing service
Our host can decline to serve alcohol to anyone, and can end service entirely if the room becomes unsafe. That decision is theirs and it is final. It is not grounds for a refund.
06
Alcohol.
We do not sell or supply alcohol. There is no licence available in Ontario that would let us do that in a private residence.
You buy your own drinks and they stay yours, in your home. Our staff pour and serve them the way a hired bartender would at any private party. Everyone serving holds Smart Serve and will card anyone who looks under twenty-five.
We send you a shopping list with your confirmation telling you exactly what to buy and roughly what it costs, and we bring a non-alcoholic option as standard.
07
Allergies and diets.
We work entirely from the intake form, which comes to you the moment your booking is confirmed. Tell us at booking rather than on the night.
-
Vegetarian works as written, with no change and no extra cost
-
Vegan is possible on most evenings with notice
-
Nut allergies are workable with notice, but they change more than one course
-
Gluten free we decline, politely and at booking. Gluten-free dough behaves nothing like the real thing and it would compromise the evening for everyone
Where an allergy has not been declared in advance we will decline to serve rather than guess. That is not us being difficult. It is the only safe answer when we have not been able to prepare.
08
Damage.
We photograph your table before setup and use trivets and mats under every plate and pot.
Anything we damage, we cover. We carry liability insurance and you should never be out of pocket for something we did.
Anything a guest damages sits with you as the host, in the same way it would at any party in your home. If our equipment is damaged by a guest we will invoice for the replacement at cost.
09
Photography.
We film and photograph at every evening. It is written here and repeated in your confirmation, so nobody is surprised by a camera.
-
Ten to fifteen edited photographs, sent to you two days later, free, and yours to share
-
Any guest can opt out on the night and we will keep them out of frame
-
You can opt the whole evening out at booking, at no cost
-
We never publish a face without your agreement at booking, and never name or tag a private address
